Deutsche Suite op.22

für Flöte und Klavier

Although Clara Faisst did not compose any works for the flute, at least the Deutsche

Suite op. 22, originally written for violin and piano, is highly interesting for the flute. I would even go so far as to speculate that this suite sounds better with flute and piano than with violin. The neo‐baroque beginning of the prelude even reminds one of the A minor Partita BWV 1013 by Johann Sebastian Bach. And it is to be expected that, due to the growing interest in female composers, this work will receive more attention in the present version for flute and piano than in the original version.

Only a few changes were necessary, mainly some octave changes and a few passages with double stops. The original key of the suite was retained, a few errors in the first printing, especially incorrect accidentals and a few mistakes in the rhythmic notation, were silently corrected.
