Piccolokonzert

arranged  by Gergely Ittzés

Vivaldi’s concerto in C is learned today by everyone who takes piccolo playing seriously. Despite this, it is performed relatively seldom, but is ‘normally’ studied (the second movement in particular) and a few bars played solo as a means of demonstrating one’s own cantabile piccolo sound. In most cases neither the ambition nor the opportunity are available to perform this brilliant work with accompaniment on the concert platform. The sound produced with piano accompaniment is not very convincing, and not everyone has access to a string orchestra. This version has accordingly been arranged for practical reasons and with the intention of making the complete concerto playable with an inspiring accompaniment.
