1. Duo concertante op. 53
Score and parts first edition
It is almost unbelievable to me that the 6 concertante duos op. 53 (Edition Kossack 20081-20086), which I only recently came across and of whose existence I was previously unaware, have never before been published in a modern, usable version. Without any exaggeration, I am of the opinion that I have hit the bull's eye with this discovery. Devienne's well-known wealth of ideas in the invention of melodies comes to the fore in these ravishingly beautiful duets in mature bloom, the technical difficulties are kept within limits, so that even less virtuoso flutists will get their money's worth here.
